Snake Activity at Brisbane Airport

Published on March 28, 2023

Brisbane Airport is home to a number of native snake species, some of which are the world's most venomous.
Maintaining a level of awareness, and not fear of snakes will ensure your safety while working or travelling through outdoor areas.

Snakes can be found in many types of natural and human-modified environments on airport grounds including carparks,
hangars, landscaped areas, terminal and airside areas as well as around Skygate shopping centre.

For further infromation about the species of snakes present at Brisbane Airport, please read the information booklet below.

What to do if you see a Snake:

  • Do not attempt to identify the snake – treat all snakes as venomous.
  • Under no circumstances, attempt to interact or corner the snake.
  • Always keep a safe distance and warn other persons in the area of the snake’s presence.
  • Contact a professional snake handler, such as:
    • Brisbane Snake Removal Services 0409 675 522
    • Biodiversity Australia – 1300 319 954.
  • If possible and safe, try to maintain visual contact with the snake so the snake handler can easily capture and relocate it.
