Gearing up for the busy holiday season
From now, until the end of January, we are expecting a huge surge in passenger numbers here at Brisbane Airport. We anticipate having 3.7 million travellers flying through our domestic and international terminals. This will be a 20% increase compared to last year and close to the pre-pandemic levels of 2019.
The domestic terminal will see 2.7 million passengers, a 12% rise from last year and 96% of the 2019 numbers. The international terminal will welcome 1.0 million passengers, a 46% jump from last year and 88% of the 2019 figures.
China and India are among the fastest growing source countries for international tourists to Queensland, with our recently commenced 14 weekly flights from China, as well as a new generation of travellers from India. New Zealand remains the most popular destination for Queenslanders heading overseas, followed by Vietnam, Japan and the United States.
The international terminal will set a new post-pandemic record with more than 20,000 daily passengers for the first time since January 2020. A massive contrast from the darkest days of the pandemic where there were days of zero international passengers, and now we are back to more than 20,000 per day.
To celebrate the holiday season at our bustling terminals, teams across BAC have prepared the biggest terminal entertainment line-up in its history, featuring live music, performances from performing arts partners, giveaways and much more.
